HYDERABAD: Telangana has offered technological cooperation and institutional support to help Tanzania transition into a digital economy, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu said on Saturday.
The offer came during a meeting with a high-level Tanzanian delegation led by Mudrick Ramadhani Soraga, Minister for Communication, ICT and Innovation. The meeting took place at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat.
Cooperation across sectors discussed
Both sides explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation in information technology, tourism, healthcare, life sciences and emerging technologies. They also discussed digital governance and digital public infrastructure.

Sridhar Babu said the State government will prepare a roadmap for strategic collaboration. The roadmap will focus on startups, innovation ecosystems and skill development.
"Digital transformation is a key driver of inclusive social and economic growth," he said. "Telangana is ready to share its experience, technical expertise and institutional knowledge to support Tanzania's digital economy."
Pharma distribution hub proposed
The minister said the State government will examine the feasibility of establishing a pharmaceutical distribution hub in Tanzania. The hub could support the supply of medicines and healthcare products in the region.
He added that Telangana could act as a knowledge partner in citizen service delivery through MeeSeva. The State could also support women entrepreneurship through WE Hub and help strengthen startup and innovation ecosystems.
Telangana can also support skilling, reskilling and upskilling programmes through Young India Skills University, he said.
Tanzania plans MoU with Telangana
Sridhar Babu said Telangana will also study Tanzania's best practices in sectors such as the blue economy and tourism. The State will explore how these models could apply locally.
Soraga said Tanzania is keen to work with progressive regions such as Telangana to advance its digital economy goals.
He said Telangana's achievements in IT, healthcare, medical tourism, digital governance, startups and life sciences are inspiring. Tanzania plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Telangana soon to formalise cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Fatma Mabrouk Khamis, principal secretary in Tanzania's Ministry of Communication, ICT and Innovation; Shukuru Awadh Suleiman, chief executive officer of the Zanzibar ICT Authority; John Mahundi, head of technology and investments at the President's Delivery Bureau; and other senior officials.
