HYDERABAD: The Telangana Police have announced traffic diversions and parking restrictions in Secunderabad in view of Republic Day celebrations at the Parade Grounds on January 26, between 07.00 IST and 12.00 IST.
According to an advisory issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic-I, Malkajgiri Commissionerate, traffic congestion is expected on roads surrounding the Parade Grounds, with the stretch between Tivoli X-roads and Plaza X-roads remaining closed during the celebrations.
Roads and junctions likely to see congestion
Traffic congestion is expected at several major junctions, including Panjagutta X-roads, YMCA X-roads, Patny X-roads, B.B. X-roads, Plaza, CTO Junction, Brook Bond Junction, Tivoli Junction, Sweekar Upakar Junction, Secunderabad Club, Tadbund X-roads, Balamrai X-roads, Rasoolpura (Begumpet) and Paradise.

The police have requested the public to avoid Sardar Patel Road, Minister Road, K.P. Road and S.D. Road between 07.00 IST and 12.00 IST.
Diversions announced for general public
Traffic coming from Begumpet towards Panjagutta will be diverted at CTO X-roads via Sweekar Upakar, YMCA and Jinnah Rotary towards Panjagutta. Vehicles from Karkhana and JBS towards Patny will be diverted via Tivoli-Brook Bond-Balamrai-Patny.
Traffic from R.P. Road towards S.B. X-roads will be diverted towards Paradise, while vehicles from Langar Houz and Begumpet will be diverted at YMCA towards Clock Tower and Begumpet. Traffic from Bowenpally and Tadbund towards Tivoli will be diverted at Brook Bond towards CTO-Rasoolpura-Tadbund.
Vehicles from Patny will not be allowed towards State Bank of Hyderabad-Sweekar Upakar and will be diverted towards Clock Tower-YMCA or Paradise-CTO. Traffic from Trimulgherry and Karkhana towards Plaza will be diverted at Tivoli towards Sweekar Upakar, YMCA, Brook Bond, Balamrai and CTO. If congestion builds up at Tivoli and Secunderabad Club, vehicles will be diverted towards Bowenpally Market and AOC.
Parking, public advisory
Parking places and alighting points for buses attending the Republic Day celebrations have been notified separately, police said.
Commuters intending to travel by train or bus have been advised to start early to avoid delays. The public has been requested to follow traffic updates on the social media handle @MalkajgiriCop and contact the traffic helpline 8712662999 for assistance in case of emergencies.
The police have appealed to citizens to cooperate with traffic personnel and use alternate routes during the notified hours.
