In a significant educational initiative, Prime Minister Modi announced that India would increase the number of Mekong-Ganga ICCR scholarships available to Myanmar students from 36 to 100 annually starting in 2026. The move is expected to further strengthen educational exchanges and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity. They agreed to strengthen security cooperation and prevent the use of their territories for activities that could threaten each other's national security interests. President Hlaing reiterated Myanmar's assurance that its territory would not be used against India's security interests.
Prime Minister Modi also reiterated India's support for Myanmar's efforts to achieve peace, stability, national reconciliation, and socio-economic development. The Myanmar President welcomed India's continued assistance and constructive engagement.
