This artile is to explore the unknown facts and reality of "Kumbh Mela".
But before going to analyse that, at the very beginning, I would like to thank my friend "Suman Munshi", the chief editor of "IBG NEWS" his speciality is, "such a treasure of knowledge", and I'm giving thanks, not only for providing encouragement or information for writing this article, but also for being a co-reviewer of this article. If any of you have any science-based questions on any of the following topics, feel free to ask him. However, I have also benefited from writing about the "Kumbh Mela" on this topic. I have learned a little about cosmic activities.
The only thing that is available for free is knowledge, yet it is the most valuable of all the asset one can aquire in a life time, and there is no alternative to it. However, not having knowledge is not a fault, it may not be there, but that does not mean that it is wrong and non relevant. Those who do that can be called jack of all trades master of none in polite words, in a simple word a hypocrite in, half-educated (even more than a fool) and many other language ornaments can be used to adorn them. However, let the fools boast about their stupidity. In the end, they'll, will have to resort to that lie.
The subject that I am going to introduce is completely the science behind the "Kumbh Mela". How someone sees something completely depends on their perspective. I have said before many a times that Sanatan Dharma is completely based on scientific practice and principals. For example, some see darkness while many others take it as the absence of light or manifestation of visible wavelength to naked eye. So without further ado, let's go straight into the scientific analysis of "Kumbh Mela".
What is the relationship between science and Kumbh Mela (we will call it Kumbh in short henceforth) and why is it so important, I will try to highlight with my limited knowledge. And yes, there is no reason to think that a very ordinary person like me dares to review this difficult subject of science. But research is going on all over the world on the following topics, none of them are fools. They are well-established in their respective fields.
First of all I'd like clarify the head line "its Science and philosophy both, how? That will we both are trying and simplify in the upcoming paragraph.
(Chapter 2)
The timing and location of the Kumbh Mela are based on the positions of the Sun, Moon, and Jupiter. The alignment of these planets is believed to create a powerful cosmic moment that's ideal for spiritual practices descrived in Sanatan culture.
How the planets affect the Kumbh Mela?
Jupiter:
The most important planet in determining the timing of the Kumbh Mela. When Jupiter enters Aquarius (Kumbh Rashi in Hindu Zodiac arrangement), it marks the start of the Kumbh Mela period.
The Sun's position often marks the transition of seasons, infusing the festival with vitality and renewal.
The Moon's role, particularly during Amavasya (New Moon) or Purnima (Full Moon), enhances the festival's energetic potency.
Earth's electromagnetic fields
The alignment of Jupiter with the Sun and Moon amplifies Earth's Unified fields of energy effectively impacting the "Gurutwa Akarshan" or "Gravitational Power".
In 2025, all seven planets were visible in the night sky during the Maha Kumbh, with Mercury joining the lineup on February 28. This rare celestial event was called a "planetary parade". And it's not only happen in 2025, it will continue to happen after and after every 144 years, unless a cosmic catastrophe occurs or a Big Bang destroyes the Solar System.
The term "planetary alignment" refers to multiple planets being visible simultaneously along the ecliptic, the apparent path of the Sun across the sky.
This event added spiritual depth to the Maha Kumbh celebrations.
Many believe that such cosmic occurrences enhance spiritual energy and divine consciousness.
The Kumbh Mela is an important Hindu pilgrimage, celebrated approximately every 6 or 12 years.
The festival is correlated with the partial or full revolution of Jupiter.
A ritual dip in the waters marks the festival.
Jupiter rotates once on its axis in about 9.9 hours, which is the shortest day in our solar system.
Jupiter is the largest and oldest planet in our solar system.
It takes Jupiter about 12 Earth years to orbit the sun, which is one year in Jovian time.
Jupiter rotates about 2.5 times faster than Earth, which rotates once in 24 hours.
Jupiter's immense mass may have spun it up to its current rotation speed, which is faster than other planets.
If Jupiter were a hollow shell, approxcimately1,000 Earths could fit inside.
NASA made great The Hubble Space Telescope has taken images of Jupiter as part of the Outer Planets Atmospheres Legacy program.
The Hubble Space Telescope has created an animation of Jupiter rotating.
Jupiter Facts - NASA Science
Orbit and Rotation One day on Jupiter takes 9.9 hours (9 hours 56minutes) (the time it takes for Jupiter to rotate or spin around once), and Jupiter makes a complete orbit around the Sun approximately 11.86 Earth years.
NASA Science
Why does Jupiter spin so fast? | The Planetary Society explained on 25 Jul 2024 article. In fact, this process may have actually slowed the planet's rotation to more than an Earth day in its early life, before the immense mass of the plan cool down to present state.
The Planetary Society
NASA SVS made Rotation Period Comparison Between Earth and Jupiter
This animation illustrates the difference in the rotational period between the Earth and Jupiter. Earth rotates once in 24 hours; whereas, Jupiter rotates more. Jupiter has the shortest day in the solar system. One day on Jupiter takes 9.9 Earth hours (the time it takes for Jupiter to rotate or spin around once), and Jupiter makes a complete orbit around the Sun (a year in Jovian time) in about 12 Earth years (4,333 Earth days).
Its equator is tilted with respect to its orbital path around the Sun by just 3 degrees. This means Jupiter spins nearly upright and does not have seasons as extreme as other planets do.
As Maha Kumbh draws to a close, a spectacular astronomical event is unfolding in the night sky. All seven planets-Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune-are aligning on one side of the Sun, making them visible together.
According to scientific theories, the Kumbh Mela is strongly believed to have a underneath connection to Gravitational or electromagnetic power as explained all power are part of "Unified Field Theory" of Mohammad Abdus Salam was a Pakistani theoretical physicist. He shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics with Sheldon Glashow and Steven Weinberg, its timing aligning with specific planetary alignments, particularly the position of Jupiter, which is thought to influence Earth's electromagnetic field, potentially impacting the biological systems of people present at the festival, leading to feelings of peace and wellness among participants; this phenomenon is often described as the "electromagnetic energy" of the Kumbh Mela.
Key points about the electromagnetic power in Kumbh Mela:
The timing of the Kumbh Mela is based on the position of Jupiter in relation to the Sun and Moon, which is considered a significant factor in influencing the Earth's electromagnetic field.
The confluence of rivers where the Kumbh Mela is held, like the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh state of India, are seen as hubs of geomagnetic energy, further enhancing the perceived spiritual power of the site.
Studies in bio magnetism suggest that the human body can respond to electromagnetic fields in the environment, potentially explaining why some people report feeling a sense of calm and well-being during the Kumbh Mela.
While the concept of electromagnetic power linked to the Kumbh Mela is not definitively proven, some research explores the potential connection between planetary alignments, electromagnetic fields, and human perception.
This is the most vital part of this article, though this article has no direct connection, nonetheless added this because "protons, neutrons, electrons" or the energy of the nucleus, are indirectly exists everywhere, so I also provided this esoteric information of science.
Protons, neutrons, and electrons are subatomic particles that make up atoms. Protons and neutrons are in the nucleus of an atom, while electrons orbit the nucleus.
Have a positive charge
Have a mass of about 1 atomic mass unit (amu)
Are bound together in the nucleus by the strong nuclear force
Have no charge
Have a mass of about 1 amu
Have a negative charge
Have a mass of about 0.0005 amu
Orbit the nucleus in orbital structures known as shells elliptical in shape.
Atomic number and mass number
The number of protons in an atom's nucleus is known as the atomic number
The number of neutrons in an atom determines its isotope
The atomic mass of an element is calculated by averaging the mass numbers of its naturally-occurring isotopes
Discovery of subatomic particles
Rutherford discovered protons through his gold foil experiment
James Chadwick discovered neutrons in 1932
Atoms are made of extremely tiny particles called protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons and neutrons are in the center of the atom, making up the nucleus. Electrons surround the nucleus. Protons have a positive charge.
The Kumbh Mela is centered on water because, in Hindu belief, bathing in sacred rivers like the Ganges during this festival is considered a deeply spiritual act, symbolizing the cleansing of sins and achieving spiritual renewal, with water acting as a medium for this purification process; essentially, the act of immersing oneself in the holy water is seen as a way to wash away past karma and attain liberation (moksha).
Key points about the role of water in Kumbh Mela:
Water is revered as the essence of life and is believed to have the power to cleanse both physically and spiritually.
The legend of the churning of the cosmic ocean (Samudra Manthan) in Hindu mythology describes the "amrita" (elixir of immortality) being spilled onto the earth at specific locations, which are now considered sacred river confluences where the Kumbh Mela is held.
The timing of the Kumbh Mela is determined by astrological calculations, with the alignment of planets considered auspicious for the ritual bathing.
Collective experience:
The large gathering of devotees at the Kumbh Mela, all participating in the ritual bathing, creates a powerful collective energy that enhances the spiritual experience.
Measurement of Brainwave:
Yes, brainwaves can be measured for a group of people using portable EEG devices, allowing researchers to study the brain activity of multiple individuals simultaneously, especially in natural environments like classrooms or during social interactions.
Here's a more detailed explanation:
• EEG (Electroencephalography):
Brainwaves, which are patterns of electrical activity in the brain, can be measured using an EEG, a test that uses small metal discs (electrodes) placed on the scalp to detect and record these electrical signals.
• Portable EEG Devices:
Researchers are increasingly using portable EEG devices that people can wear on their heads outside of the laboratory, enabling the study of brain activity in natural settings.
• Group Brainwave Activity:
These devices allow researchers to measure the brain activity of multiple people at once, while they are interacting with each other, which is particularly useful for studying social interactions and group dynamics.
• Examples of Applications:
• Classroom Studies: Researchers can study how students' brainwaves synchronize during class, particularly when they are more engaged.
• Social Interaction Research: Portable EEG can help understand how brain activity changes during social interactions and whether there is any correlation between brainwave synchronization and social behavior.
• Neuroscience Education: Students can use EEG to learn about their own brains and how neuroscience works, as demonstrated in programs like "BrainWaves" at New York University.
• Business Sense: Researchers are exploring the possibility of using brainwave activity to assess business sense and leadership potential.
• Brainwave Synchronization:
Research suggests that brainwaves can synchronize when people interact, potentially indicating shared cognitive processing and facilitating communication.
• Limitations:
While EEG is a valuable tool, it's important to note that it measures the electrical activity of the brain as a whole and not specific brain regions.
Chapter 3
Kumbh Mela is a profound celebration of faith, spirituality, and cosmic science, bringing together millions in a grand convergence of divine energies.
Celebrated at 4 powerful locations-Haridwar, Prayagraj, Nashik, and Ujjain-the Kumbh Mela embodies centuries of spiritual traditions deeply intertwined with astronomical and energetic principles.
Complex event that involves astronomy, biology, and public health.
The Kumbh Mela's timing is based on planetary alignments, especially Jupiter's position.
Jupiter's 12-year orbit around the sun aligns it with specific zodiac signs, which are considered auspicious.
The alignment of Jupiter with the sun and moon is believed to increase Earth's electromagnetic fields.
Research suggests that humans emit electromagnetic forces and respond to charged fields in their environment.
Some people report feeling peaceful and well during the festival, which may be due to the electromagnetic field changes.
Public health:
The Kumbh Mela is the world's largest mass gathering, which can lead to public health challenges.
These challenges include blood-borne diseases, vector-borne diseases, parasitic infections, stampedes, and noise levels.
The Kumbh Mela can also lead to bacterial load increases in the river.
***(Its better to say here, none of this happens because of the scattering of powerful cosmic rays or presence of A bacteriophage, or phage, is a virus that infects and kills bacteria. The word "bacteriophage" literally means "bacteria eater". The Ganga River is known for containing a high diversity of bacteriophages, viruses that target and kill bacteria, which may contribute to the river's self-purification abilities. Samples drawn from the Ganga contained almost 1,100 kinds of bacteriophage, and proportionally there were less than 200 species detected in the samples obtained from the Yamuna and the Narmada. However, these antibacterial properties varied widely along the length of the river.).
Other considerations
The Kumbh Mela is also a rich event in terms of astrology, spirituality, ritualistic traditions, and socio-cultural customs.
From a scientific perspective, the Kumbh Mela reflects an intricate relationship between astronomy and human biology. Research suggests that planetary alignments can influence Earth's electromagnetic fields, which may impact biological systems.
Anyway, finally, let's come to the essence or gist of this entire article. The meeting or mixture of all our knowledge is "Kumbh Mela". First, let's come to "philosophy", what is philosophy? We search for what exists but we do not know, that is, it is not a proven truth, but based on assumptions. This method of search is called "science". This special knowledge or science has three parts, 1) Physics, Chemistry, 2) Biology, 3) Mathematics.
Now, the question may come to your mind why I raised the above topics. I am coming to that topic. If you have read the above topics carefully, then you must have known the space and time of the cosmic planets and stars, their position at a specific time during their orbit or rotation around the sun. All these calculations require mathematics.
Quantum Mechanics, Bose Einstein Statistics and God Particle research of the modern world reveled that importance of "Nataraj pose of Lord Shiva" in the Universe.
If we take Bagvan Lord Bramha as creator of this Universe as Positive Charge Proton, Lord Vishnu as Neutron as Care giver and neutral, while the ultimate Destructor Lord Shiva dances like Negative Charged Electron in the Universe like "Nataraj", then the Power balance in side resonates with the concept of Tridev in Sanatan and balance of all three types of energy is achieved for the Nirvana.
You also know that every planet and star contains some chemical gases and mineral resources. Not only that, but due to various chemical reactions, various light rays come to this earth from there. Which provides the power to work in our daily lives.
Now the context we are coming to is biology. You can learn a little about this from various science magazines. But it is very little. Because scientists around the world have come to know the source of that power to some extent, but how that power affects the life of every living being is not fully revealed yet. Most of it is hypothetical.
Chapter 4
I do not have the ability to explain that cosmic activity. I am going to raise the next topic based on the circustancial evidence and assumptions. The first question that comes to mind is "What is power"? How is it distributed? To implement the process of replacing that infinite power in living beings, how should it be diluted? How much should it be done? A real example of this is "Kumbh Mela". But "power" has no structure, it is invisible.
I will give two very simple examples.
1) You all know about nuclear weapons. The smallest particle of elementary matter is called an atom. It is chemically indivisible. Core of atom are made up of protons and neutrons. Now think about the power of that tiny particle. Think about its destructive and creative power.
2) Human body: - The acid in the human stomach, "hydrochloric". You know its power, if you pour a drop of it, it will burn you. But the process of digesting food is done by diluting that dangerous acid in various ways.
The reason I gave the above two examples is because if we don't know much about anything, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Now think about how much energy is created as a result of that cosmic "Kumbh Mela" activity. And only "water" can make that infinite power relatively less. That is why the custom of bathing in "Kumbh" or the word "Kumbh Snan" or Holy Bath is widely used.
Another reason for this is that 72% of the human body is water or watery matter.
Finally, why is there Aquarius in those four specific places? Very simple, those four places are the meeting points of planets, stars and geographical positions. Which you will get by doing geometric calculations of astronomical mathematics.
First of all, let me thank Suman Munshi, without whom this article would not have been complete, then I would like to thank Wikipedia, Times of India, Google, AI, and everyone else who helped me write this article. Thanks to all of you
