Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar has managed to be one of the biggest films at the box office, and collectively, it earned over Rs 3,100 crore at the worldwide box office.
However, it looks like the film's release in Japan, on July 10, began on a completely subpar note.
Dhurandhar sees only 900 viewers on Day 1 in Japan
Dhurandhar was released across 80 screens in Japan on July 10; however, the action drama did not seem to find an audience and failed to become even the top 25 films in the country on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

As per reports doing the rounds, on day 1, the film sold 449 tickets by 2 pm, across 57 locations; however, nothing improved throughout the day, and the total number of admissions rose to just 900 across all the locations. Clearly, the film has not worked in the country, even though it was promoted quite a lot before its release.
Now, Dhurandhar's poor performance during the film's first three days also means that the movie has not managed to enter the top 10 Indian films with the highest opening-day footfall in Japan, even though it just needed to beat Salman Khan's Tiger 3 and cross 1,300 admissions. For the unversed, Pushpa 2 also missed making it to the top 10 list.
Currently, Yash's RRR has the record of being the biggest opener for an Indian film in Japan, with a footfall of 8,230, followed by Saaho (6,510), Kalki 2898 AD (3,700), Pathaan (2,220), Salaar (2,200), Jawan (1,960), Rangasthalam (1,610), Devara (1,550), Baahubali 2 (1,380), and Tiger 3 (1,300).
Despite the subpar performance in Japan, Dhurandhar has had an unfazed run at the box office in India, and the second film in the franchise, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is the second highest-grossing Indian film of all time, only behind Aamir Khan's Dangal. The film managed to earn Rs 1,813 crore in worldwide collections.
Both films are written and directed by Aditya Dhar, and along with Ranveer Singh, also feature Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, Danish Pandor, and others.
