The trailer begins with (Shazia) Yami narrating the beginning of the fight for her right and the reason behind it. It goes on to show a blissful marriage between Shazia and Abbas that ends when Abbas decides to marry a younger woman (as permitted by Islam).
Shazia opposes but is slapped with a triple talaq and a pre-agreed amount of mehr that her husband gives her during the divorce. Shazia boldly decides to challenge the system of triple talaq and demands maintenance for herself and their three children.
The rest of the trailer goes on to show how Shazia is met with hostility in the courtroom as well as within her community. She draws flak for challenging the Islam law but keeps fighting for her rights. The clip ends with her urging the judicial system to view as an Indian Muslim woman who deserves the same treatment as other women.
Fans hailed the Yami and Emraan's performances, saying the two talent powerhouses would completely justify their characters and bring the impact the movie intends to bring.
