AI is spreading its wings everywhere, and now it has entered healthcare as well. Amazon has added a healthcare AI assistant to its website and app for customer convenience.
The company's goal behind incorporating this AI health expert into the app and site is to simplify care for more than 30 ailments.
The company stated that the artificial intelligence assistant can explain results, connect patients with providers, and answer questions about medications and symptoms. Announced in January, this model will initially be exclusive to members of One Medical, the company's clinical service provider. It's worth noting that customers don't need to be members of Prime, the company's premium prescription service, or One Medical to use the free assistant. Simply put, this new AI health tool will be accessible to everyone.
According to a Reuters report, Andrew Diamond, Chief Medical Officer of Amazon One Medical, said that health AI is designed to handle the logistical and informational tasks that hinder healthcare, so that patients and providers can spend more time on what matters most.
Can provide advice for these ailments
From acne and head lice to non-emergency conditions like diabetes and sleep apnea, this AI agent can help manage symptoms, conduct virtual assessments, and recommend treatments. Customers must grant the AI assistant permission to access medical data, including lab results, records, and clinical notes.
A company spokesperson said that the assistant does not create treatment plans and connects patients with a provider when they need treatment or their condition becomes complex. But it's worth noting that patients who are not One Medical members or are not availing of the introductory offer through Prime are charged $29.
