IRCTC TDR Filing: If you recently traveled on an Indian Railways train and had a poor experience, you can file a complaint and receive a refund.

IRCTC provides a method to file a TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt). You can file a TDR if the train is delayed by more than three hours, the AC is not working, the train is diverted, or the coach is changed. If you missed your train, the train was delayed significantly, the route was changed, or there was a problem with the coach, you can apply for a refund in all these cases. Let us explain what you need to do to get a railway refund and what the process is.

How to File a TDR?
Step 1 - Log in to the IRCTC website www.irctc.co.in.
Step 2 - Go to My Account - My Transactions - File TDR.
Step 3 - Select the PNR of the ticket for which you want to file a TDR.
Step 4 - Select the appropriate reason for the TDR from the drop-down menu.
Step 5 - Select the passengers for whom you want to file a TDR and click 'File TDR'.
Step 6 - Read the instructions carefully and click 'Yes'.
Step 7 - Your TDR will be successfully filed, and a message will appear on the screen.

When can a TDR be filed?
IRCTC allows passengers to file a TDR and request a refund in several situations. Each reason has a different time limit within which a TDR must be filed. For example, if the train is severely delayed (more than 3 hours), the train changes its route, the coach is changed, a seat or amenity is unavailable, etc. These rules are listed on the official IRCTC website. However, IRCTC does not offer the facility for booking connecting train tickets. Therefore, refunds are not available on connecting journey tickets.
