Weather Warning: Amid the bone-chilling cold wave conditions, dense fog enveloped Delhi and the adjoining National Capital Region (NCR) on Friday morning, reducing visibility and increasing the chances of road mishaps.
Fog conditions also disrupt rail and flight operations. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert and warning of cold wave conditions at isolated locations. Meanwhile, severe cold wave conditions persist in parts of North India, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Snowfall is likely in the hilly states. Delhi Weather
Residents of the capital city woke up to a bone-chilling morning on Friday with dense fog blanketing the entire NCR region. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for dense fog and cold wave conditions for today. Some relief from the cold is likely from today afternoon as cold wave conditions are expected to weaken due to a feeble western disturbance.
The nighttime temperature is expected to hover between 3 and 5 degrees Celsius. By Sunday, the minimum temperature is likely to increase further between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius. There is no chance of rain in the capital city.
Thursday became the coldest day of the season in the capital city as the nighttime temperature plunged to 2.9 degrees Celsius. Palam recorded 2.3 degrees Celsius, lowest in the last 20 years.

Cold Wave Warning
Cold wave and dense fog conditions persist in North India, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan on Friday morning. According to IMD, some relief from the cold wave conditions will be witnessed in next 2-3 days.
Snowfall Warning
The weather department stated that a western disturbance is likely to hit the Himalayan region due to which snowfall is expected today.
Rainfall Warning
Light to moderate showers are expected in parts Uttar Pradesh on January 19 and 20, further increasing cold conditions. Light showers area also expected in parts of Uttarakhand, while snowfall is likely in higher-altitude regions.
According to IMD, the Northeast monsoon is expected over parts of South India, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, within two days.
