Flexprice, a New Delhi-based startup that builds billing and revenue infrastructure for AI companies, has raised $1.5 million in a seed funding round.
The round was led by Shastra VC, co-led by Anupam Mittal, founder of People Group and Shaadi.com, and TDV Partners.
Founded in late 2024, Flexprice has built an online platform specifically for AI-native and API-first businesses that bill their customers based on actual usage, such as the number of tokens consumed, API calls made, or GPU hours used, rather than flat monthly subscription fees.
The platform currently supports a range of pricing models including pay-as-you-go, prepaid credits, volume tiers, seat-based, and hybrid pricing. It integrates natively with payment platforms including Stripe, Adyen, and Razorpay.
The underlying technology is built in Go, using ClickHouse for high-throughput metering, Kafka for event-driven pipelines, and Temporal for workflow orchestration. The platform is fully open-source and can be self-hosted, which means companies are not locked into a vendor relationship.
"Billing is the hardest layer to get right, and the most consequential when you get it wrong, so that's where we started. But billing is just the foundation of a much larger stack that every software company runs on. The bigger picture is full revenue automation: from the first usage event to the last dollar recognized, giving AI companies the infrastructure to experiment, iterate, and scale their monetization in real time without being held back by systems that were never built for them," said Manish Choudhary, CEO of Flexprice.
With this round of funding, Flexprice will focus on expanding its presence in the United States and Europe. It will also focus on building new product features that extend it beyond billing into what the startup describes as AI-native finance, covering metering, revenue recognition, and financial reporting through AI-powered workflows.
"In our conversations with AI companies, one theme came up repeatedly: traditional billing systems are breaking under new AI business models. Software pricing is rapidly shifting from seat-based subscriptions to usage-based and increasingly outcome-based pricing, creating a level of complexity most existing infrastructure wasn't designed to handle. What stood out about Flexprice was the strength of the engineering vision, an open-source, real-time billing platform purpose-built for modern AI products, while integrating cleanly into existing systems," said Avijeet Alagathi, Managing Partner at Shastra VC.
Ujwal Sutaria, General Partner at TDV Partners, added, "We're seeing a generational shift in how software is priced and delivered, driven by AI and usage-based models. Flexprice is building the foundational infrastructure required for this new paradigm. Their open-source approach, combined with deep technical execution and a clear product vision, positions them to become a category-defining company in the revenue stack."
