Former General Catalyst partner Priya Mohan has joined JoulesToWatts (J2W), an AI transformation and consulting firm focused on global capability centres (GCCs), as chief operating officer (COO).
In her new role, Mohan will oversee the full lifecycle of the company's AI implementation work, including diagnostics, strategy design, execution, change management and delivery of outcomes.
Mohan brings more than two decades of experience across investment, operations and enterprise technology. Most recently, she worked at global venture capital firm General Catalyst, where she focused on India's GCC ecosystem and the enterprise AI landscape.
'AI does not have a capability problem,' Mohan said. 'It has a context problem with respect to enterprises. I spent years in venture watching companies raise capital on the strength of AI roadmaps and then quietly struggle to operationalise them. I moved to JoulesToWatts because this is where that work actually gets done.'
She had stepped down from her role at General Catalyst in August last year, writing on LinkedIn at the time that after a 22-year career she planned to take a break, adding she felt 'a remarkable sense of exhilaration' despite uncertainty about what would come next.
Mohan joined General Catalyst in 2024 following the merger of Venture Highway with the firm. Prior to that, she was managing partner at Venture Highway, where she led investments in companies including fintech firm FamPay and software startup BetterPlace. She had taken on the managing partner role in October 2023, succeeding co-founder Samir Sood, as the firm was raising its third fund.
Earlier in her career, Mohan co-founded education technology startup Vidyartha, which was later acquired by BYJU'S in 2017.
JoulesToWatts was founded in 2015 by CEO Priti Sawant and focuses on helping enterprises and GCCs scale transformation efforts. The firm claims that it works with Fortune 500 companies and global capability centres on enterprise transformation initiatives.
'Priya brings a perspective shaped by seeing enterprise AI from the outside, with the rigor of making hard calls on what truly works, and now applies that within execution, exactly what customers need. We align on using AI indicators to deeply understand customer context and translate that into precision-led execution that drives true customer delight at the minutest level,' Sawant said.
