Digital healthcare platform Practo has appointed former Union Health Secretary C K Mishra to its board of directors as an independent director, strengthening governance as the company expands its integrated healthcare platform in India and international markets.
Mishra, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with 37 years of public service, retired in 2020 after holding senior roles across health, environment, education, industry and power. As Secretary in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, he led one of the world's largest public health ecosystems, overseeing large national health programmes and complex multi-stakeholder public health systems.
According to Practo, his experience in building and governing infrastructure at scale will support the company as it continues to expand its technology-led healthcare platform.
Mishra joins a board that has recently added TVG Krishnamurthy, a veteran advisor with decades of global enterprise experience, and Dr Alexander Kuruvilla, a healthcare administrator. The company said these additions will help strengthen governance and long-term platform resilience as Practo builds global healthcare infrastructure.
'Healthcare systems today require transparency, structured information, and accountability at scale. Digital platforms that can organise complex healthcare data and enable informed decision-making have the potential to significantly improve access and outcomes. Practo has built a neutral, technology-driven ecosystem connecting patients, providers, and payors, and I believe such platforms can play an important role in strengthening healthcare delivery. I look forward to contributing to this journey,' Mishra said.
Practo founder and CEO Shashank ND said, 'It is an honour for us that C K Mishra has chosen to join Practo's board. His extensive experience in building and governing large-scale public systems will be invaluable as we continue strengthening our platform and expanding our technology-led healthcare ecosystem.'
Founded in 2008 by Shashank ND, Practo connects users with more than 700,000 doctors and healthcare providers through its platform. The company also offers Insta, a hospital information management system used by more than 500 clients across over 1,200 healthcare facilities globally.
