Vi launches prepaid plan with free access to PhysicsWallah courses for JEE, NEET students

Vi, formerly known as Vodafone Idea, has announced a partnership with Alakh Pandey's PhysicsWallah to launch what it claims India's first edtech-enabled prepaid recharge plan that bundles mobile connectivity with access to academic content.

The new offering, called Vi Edu+, makes PhysicsWallah's OTT learning platform Pi available as part of a standard prepaid recharge, without requiring students to pay separately for the educational content.

It will initially be available in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh East circle, with plans to expand to other states in a phased manner.

What the plan includes and what it costs

The Vi Edu+ pack is priced at Rs 375 in Rajasthan and Rs 409 in UP East. Both packs come with unlimited 4G and 5G data, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day, and 28-day access to PW Pi Pro, which is the premium tier of PhysicsWallah's Pi platform.

The 28-day validity of the educational subscription is aligned with the standard prepaid billing cycle. Once a student purchases the Vi Edu+ pack, they get instant access to the Pi platform through the PhysicsWallah app or website.

What is Pi Pro?

Pi Pro gives students access to a large content library that covers kindergarten through Class 12, along with preparation material for competitive examinations including JEE, NEET, UPSC, CUET, CSIR NET, GATE, defence exams, and Olympiads.

The platform also includes upskilling courses in areas like technology, finance, generative AI, design, and marketing. The content library includes over 30,000 video lectures by experienced faculty, one-shot revision series, and handwritten notes. Students can access unlimited live and recorded lectures, AI-powered doubt solving, quizzes, performance tracking tools, practice tests, and study material across multiple subjects.

The platform also supports offline downloads, allowing students to study without needing an active internet connection at all times.

For Vi, the partnership is part of a broader effort to add value beyond basic connectivity as it competes in an increasingly competitive telecom market.

"At Vi, we are constantly innovating to deliver meaningful value beyond connectivity. With Vi Edu+, we are taking a significant step towards integrating education into our core offerings, enabling access to quality learning for millions of students. Our partnership with PhysicsWallah allows us to bring credible and structured educational content to a wider audience, especially those who aspire to learn and grow but are constrained by affordability or access," said Avneesh Khosla, Chief Marketing Officer at Vi.

For PhysicsWallah, the tie-up offers a way to reach students who may not independently seek out or pay for a standalone edtech subscription, particularly in smaller cities and towns where both price sensitivity and aspirations for competitive exam preparation tend to run high.

"Our focus has always been on making quality education accessible and effective for students. Through this partnership with Vi, we are bringing the Pi platform's comprehensive resources directly to learners. By providing access to structured content, from practice tests to expert lectures, within a single mobile recharge, we aim to simplify the digital learning experience and help students stay focused on their academic goals," said Prateek Maheshwari, Co-Founder of PhysicsWallah.
