Can you really see who rewatched your Instagram Story? New Instagram plus feature explained

Can you really see who rewatched your Instagram Story? New Instagram plus feature explained

Indiatimes 1 week ago
Instagram has officially decided that peace was overrated. For years, people have begged the app to reveal who keeps obsessively rewatching their Stories.
You know, the situationship who watches within three seconds, the ex who somehow never misses a post, or that one random mutual who treats your Stories like a Netflix series. Well, Instagram finally responded… kind of.

The app is now testing a new feature that lets users see how many people rewatched their Story. Not who specifically rewatched it, unfortunately. Instagram is not exposing individual stalkers just yet. But the feature is still chaotic enough to send the internet into detective mode.

Instagram plus is basically the app's villain era

The rewatch feature is part of something called Instagram Plus, a new paid subscription currently being tested in selected countries including Japan, Mexico and the Philippines.

Think Snapchat Plus, except somehow even messier.

Users chosen for the test reportedly receive a notification while checking Story insights, offering access to premium features through a subscription model. One of the biggest selling points? Being able to see how many people replayed your Story more than once.

Suddenly, every blurry mirror selfie feels like potential emotional evidence.

The internet is already spiralling

Naturally, social media users are reacting exactly how you would expect: with panic, chaos and extremely public overthinking.

Even though Instagram is not revealing exact usernames, people are already convinced they can "sense" who keeps rewatching their Stories. TikTok and X are flooded with users joking about deleting Stories entirely after realising somebody might know they replayed a post five times.

Because honestly, nobody needed this level of emotional surveillance.

Instagram wants more than your attention

The rewatch feature is not the only thing included in Instagram Plus. The subscription also reportedly tests extended 48-hour Stories, anonymous Story viewing, "super hearts", custom audience lists and weekly Story spotlights.

Basically, Instagram is slowly turning into a social media survival game where everybody is watching everybody.

The feature is still limited to testing for now, but if it launches globally, prepare for an entirely new era of Story paranoia.
