Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann flagged off a fleet of 250 new buses in Patiala, marking an expansion of the Punjab Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) services.
During the event, CM Bhagwant Mann highlighted that the expansion of the bus fleet is not limited to improving transportation services but is also expected to contribute to employment generation. With more buses being added, additional manpower will be required for operations, maintenance, and related services, thereby opening up new job opportunities for youth. Officials indicated that this is part of a broader plan to modernize the state's public transport system. In addition to the 250 buses introduced, the government is planning to induct more than 300 additional buses into the PRTC fleet in the near future. This phased expansion is expected to further strengthen the transport network and improve frequency and coverage on key routes.
The initiative also reflects a focus on making public transport a more viable option for daily commuters. By expanding the fleet, authorities aim to reduce overcrowding, improve punctuality, and provide a more comfortable travel experience.
