A special pilgrimage train carrying around 1,300 devotees from Delhi has been arranged for a religious journey to Somnath, Gujarat, as part of a three-day visit planned from May 1 to May 3. The initiative is being described as a coordinated effort involving multiple government bodies to facilitate pilgrimage travel for participants.

According to details shared by the organisers, the train departed with devotees who will arrive in Somnath early the next day. During the visit, pilgrims are scheduled to offer prayers at the Somnath Jyotirlinga temple, one of the prominent shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, along with other nearby religious sites.

The arrangements for the journey include provisions for travel, accommodation, meals, drinking water, and other basic facilities. Officials stated that support has been extended by the Gujarat government to ensure smooth logistics and management during the pilgrims' stay.

The programme has been organised with involvement from the Union Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Railways, along with participation from state authorities. The initiative is part of broader efforts aimed at promoting religious tourism and improving connectivity to major pilgrimage destinations across the country.

Participants are expected to return after completing their scheduled temple visits and associated religious activities. The journey has been structured to allow devotees time for darshan and participation in rituals at Somnath, while also visiting other nearby temples in the region.

Organisers highlighted that such pilgrimage trains are intended to make religious travel more accessible for citizens by combining transportation and on-ground arrangements under a single coordinated framework. Officials associated with the programme noted that similar initiatives have been undertaken for various pilgrimage circuits in the past as well.

The Somnath visit is expected to conclude on May 3, after which the train will bring the devotees back to Delhi.
