India vs Australia: Five-Test series in 2027

Why India's next Test is crucial for WTC 2025-27

India consequently finished the two-Test series with a 1-0 win rather than a clean sweep.India are currently fifth in the WTC standings and have seven Tests remaining in the cycle - two against New Zealand followed by five against Australia. According to Reuters, India need to win at least six of those seven matches to keep control of their route to the WTC Final.
That makes every remaining Test increasingly important. A poor result in New Zealand could put India under significant pressure before the Australia series even begins.
Winning six of those seven would take India to around 65% points percentage, which could keep them firmly in the qualification race, although their final position would still depend on results elsewhere.
