Hollywood's royal couple, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, are facing a fresh wave of backlash from fans and critics alike after the Kansas City Chiefs star was spotted having a friendly conversation with Kai Trump, the granddaughter of US President Donald Trump.

The interaction took place on Tuesday, March 3, at the TGL golf event at the SoFi Centre in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Kelce attended the match between Jupiter Links GC and The Bay Golf Club alongside his brother, retired NFL star Jason Kelce, who was working as an ESPN analyst for the event.
In a video shared on social media by reporter Tyler Boronski, the 36-year-old tight end was seen chatting casually with 18-year-old Kai Trump on the turf during the event. Kai, an avid golfer who made her LPGA debut in November 2025, was at the event with her mother, Vanessa Trump, who is currently dating golf legend, Tiger Woods.
Why Redditors and fans are furious
The backlash has been particularly intense on Reddit, where users in the Fauxmoi subreddit and other communities have expressed disappointment with both Kelce and Swift. Redditors argue that the couple's actions contradict their stated beliefs and public endorsements.
"These people can't say a word against Donald Trump but have no problem rubbing elbows with his family or supporters. Greedy and craven," one user wrote on Reddit.
Another user added, "I'm a Taylor hater, I cannot lie to you… But wasn't Travis the FACE of the Pfizer vaccine and getting tons of hate from MAGA for it? I don't get where this sudden switch came from in public perception besides the fact that the Mahomes family is MAGA, but that's always been the case."
Some fans expressed disappointment with Swift specifically. "I'm a fan of Taylor's music. But her as a person…not so much. The past two years have been incredibly disappointing. I never thought she was an amazing person, but it's become clear she has zero backbone or morals. And some of her fans are absolutely disgusting. It sucks," one person added.
A comment from another fan highlighted Swift's perceived retreat from activism: "Agree. I had been a fan since the beginning and I could never defend her when people said her activism was lacking. Then in 2019/2020 she finally, FINALLY started speaking up.
