A simple act of kindness has captured hearts online after a video of Dan Simpson, a 68-year-old Domino's delivery worker in Boise, Idaho, went viral on social media on Sunday.
Small gesture, big impact: Domino's delivery driver's kindness goes viral
The moment that sparked the viral attention unfolded when customer Brian Wilson missed Simpson's call about a soda substitute. Instead of skipping the request, Simpson quietly crossed the street and brought two bottles himself to complete the order. This gesture touched hearts online, and Wilson later said it felt rare to experience such genuine care. When Wilson apologised for not having extra cash to tip and offered to call the store, Simpson humbly brushed it off, saying it was already "a good tip".
The heartfelt exchange, captured on video, quickly spread across social media, resonating with thousands.
GoFundMe launched to honour $66K for Dan Simpson's kindness
Moved by Simpson's thoughtful gesture, customer Brain Wilson started a GoFundMe in his honour. "Dan didn't realise my wife and I are both visually impaired, so a quick trip to the store isn't easy for us," Wilson explained. "What seemed small to him made a huge difference for us."As of now, the fundraiser has raised $70,041 raised of $100K USD. Simpson plans to keep delivering pizzas for Domino's and hopes to use the funds to take a trip to see California's redwood trees.
"Last night, something simple turned into something really special, and we can't stop thinking about it. On a busy Friday night, we ordered dinner from Domino's, along with a Diet Coke. While we were waiting, we got a voicemail from our delivery driver, Dan, letting us know they were out of Diet Coke… but he'd gladly bring something else if we let him know what we wanted," Wilson wrote on the GoFundMe page.
"We tried calling the store back, but he had already left for delivery. No big deal; we figured we'd just take whatever substitution came with the order," Wilson added. "But when Dan arrived, he surprised us. He apologised again for the inconvenience and then told us… he had stopped at the store himself to pick up Diet Coke for us. On a busy Friday night. During deliveries. Completely out of his own time and effort. We were honestly blown away. That level of care and kindness is rare these days."
Wilson shared that, following an outpouring of support on TikTok, he felt it would be wonderful for the community to unite and give Simpson "the recognition and send-off he truly deserves"
