Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a modern computer laboratory at Digvijaynath Post Graduate College in Gorakhpur, marking an addition to the institution's academic infrastructure.
The facility has been established in memory of former faculty member Dr Tej Pratap Shahi by his family. During the event, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of such facilities in supporting students in areas like emerging technologies, research, and innovation. He noted that access to modern infrastructure plays a key role in enhancing the quality of higher education and preparing students for evolving academic and professional demands.

The programme also served as a tribute to Dr Tej Pratap Shahi, who was associated with the college for several years as a professor and was known within academic circles. Recalling his contributions, the Chief Minister spoke about his role in maintaining relationships across different spheres and his association with Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad. At one point during the address, Yogi Adityanath became emotional while sharing a personal memory related to Dr Shahi. He recounted a meeting in 2020 when the late academician had introduced his sons to him, a gesture that the Chief Minister said gained significance after Dr Shahi's subsequent illness and passing during the COVID-19 period.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the initiative taken by Dr Shahi's family members, including Ananya Pratap Shahi and Atirek Shahi, in setting up the laboratory. He stated that such efforts contribute to preserving the legacy of educators while also benefiting current and future students. The event included the felicitation of the Chief Minister by the family and college representatives. Several public representatives, educationists, and local officials were present during the programme, along with members of the Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad. The inauguration reflects a continued focus on improving educational facilities in institutions, with emphasis on integrating technology-enabled learning environments.
