BMPS 2026 Format Revealed: A New Era of Promotion and Relegation

InsideSport 0 months ago

The competitive BGMI scene is heating up as KRAFTON India Esports has officially unveiled the format for the Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series (BMPS) 2026 . Set to kick off in May, this year's tournament introduces a high-stakes 'Promotion and Relegation' system designed to test consistency and reward the most resilient teams in the country.

With a massive lineup and a journey spanning from early May to mid-June, here is a detailed breakdown of how BMPS 2026 will unfold.

BMPS 2026 Full Format: Qualifiers Stage - Survival of the Consistent (May 6th - 31st)

The journey begins with 64 elite teams divided into four groups (A, B, C, and D) based on their rankings from previous official tournaments. Over nearly a month, these teams will compete across Erangel, Miramar, and Sanhok, but with a twist that keeps every match critical.

The new Promotion and Relegation system means the leaderboard is constantly in flux. After every six matches:

  • Promotion: The top 4 teams from Groups B, C, and D move up to the higher group.
  • Relegation: The bottom 4 teams from Groups A, B, and C drop down to the lower group.

The Survival Stage and Semifinals (June 2nd - 12th)

For those who didn't secure a direct finals spot, the road gets tougher.

  • Survival Stage (June 2nd - 5th): 32 teams (from the middle and lower rankings of the qualifiers) battle in a round-robin format. Only the top 8 survive to join the Semifinals.
  • Semifinals (June 9th - 12th): 24 teams—comprising qualifier survivors and top performers from Group B - clash in a double round-robin. Only the top 6 advance directly to the Grand Finals, while the bottom two are sent home.

Last Chance and The Grand Finals

For teams ranked 7th to 22nd in the Semifinals, the Last Chance stage (June 13th - 14th) offers one final 12-match sprint. Only the top two teams from this stage will fill the remaining slots in the elite 16-team Grand Finals lineup.

The tournament culminates in the Grand Finals, where 16 teams will battle over 18 matches in three days. With no more safety nets or second chances, only one squad will be crowned the BMPS 2026 Champion and earn the right to represent India on the international stage.
