NEW DELHI: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Sunday conducted a joint counter-terrorist mock exercise at the Indira Gandhi International Airport to assess preparedness and enhance inter-agency coordination in response to evolving security threats.
According to an official statement, personnel from multiple agencies, including the Delhi Police, National Security Guard (NSG), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Delhi Fire Service, Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) of DIAL, and medical services, participated in the exercise. CISF units such as the Quick Reaction Team (QRT), Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and Dog Squad were also involved, demonstrating coordinated operational readiness.
The exercise aimed to simulate real-time terror scenarios and strengthen synergy among agencies responsible for airport security and emergency response.
Reaffirming its commitment to aviation safety, the CISF said it continues to ensure secure airport operations through constant vigilance, alertness and coordinated action. The force is tasked with securing airports across India and protecting critical infrastructure under the Central government.
In a separate post on X, the CISF also assured robust security and seamless passenger facilitation at the newly inaugurated Phase I of the Noida International Airport. "CISF stands firmly deployed, ensuring robust security architecture, seamless passenger facilitation and vigilant protection of critical infrastructure-securing the skies with unwavering commitment," the post said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Phase I of the airport in Jewar on Saturday. Around 5,000 police personnel, including units from PAC, RAF, ATS, CISF and SPG, were deployed to secure the venue. Authorities declared the area a no-fly zone and put in place extensive arrangements, including social media monitoring, control rooms, help desks, NDRF/SDRF alerts and parking facilities for approximately 20,000 vehicles.
Earlier this week, CISF personnel at ASG Shimla conducted intensive night firing exercises in near-zero visibility to enhance precision, decision-making and operational readiness in challenging conditions, the statement added.
