SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday formally distributed appointment orders under SRO-43 and the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme (RAS) to 90 beneficiaries from across the Kashmir division at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre.
The appointments, granted on compassionate grounds, are aimed at providing employment support to families who have lost their primary earning members, reaffirming the government's commitment to supporting them during times of distress.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister stated that the administration is committed to standing firmly with people, especially those who have faced personal tragedies. He noted that while government employment is usually a matter of pride, the circumstances under which these appointments are made are deeply painful.
"Many secure jobs through examinations and interviews, but your circumstances are different. You have endured a profound personal loss," he said, acknowledging the emotional challenges faced by the beneficiaries.
He emphasized that no form of compensation can replace the loss of a loved one and observed that no one would ever choose employment over the return of a departed family member.
Highlighting reforms, Omar Abdullah said the transition from SRO-43 to the Rehabilitation Assistance Scheme was intended to address structural issues and improve efficiency. He acknowledged delays in processing cases and assured that efforts would be made to remove procedural bottlenecks and expedite approvals.
He stressed that making affected families navigate lengthy administrative procedures after such losses would be unjust and reaffirmed the government's resolve to simplify the process.
Congratulating the appointees, the Chief Minister described the moment as the beginning of a new phase in their lives and urged them to serve with honesty and integrity. He reminded them of their long-term responsibility as public servants and encouraged them to uphold ethical standards throughout their careers.
He also advised the new recruits to remain vigilant against external pressures and to stay committed to their duties.
Reiterating the administration's support, he encouraged beneficiaries to approach concerned authorities in case of difficulties, assuring prompt redressal of their concerns.
The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the divisional administration, particularly Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg and his team, for facilitating the issuance of appointment orders, and expressed hope that pending cases would be cleared swiftly.
The event was attended by senior officials including Minister Javaid Ahmad Dar, Minister Satish Sharma, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Commissioner Secretary GAD M. Raju, and other senior officers, along with beneficiaries and their families.
