POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today convened the monthly review meeting of the District Telecom Committee in his office chamber to review the progress of telecom infrastructure and connectivity projects in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy commissioner, Tahir Mustafa Malik, Superintendent Engineer, PWD (R&B), District Informatic Officer, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Executive Engineer JPDCL, Tehsildar Hqr, Pollution Control Committee Poonch, SDO BSNL, besides other concerned
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of installation of mobile towers across the district. He directed the concerned departments and agencies to complete the installation process at the pending 20 locations out of the total 40 identified locations.
The concerned officers were asked to expedite the process of identification of State land for the newly identified 17 locations to facilitate timely establishment of telecom infrastructure.
Reviewing the progress under the Amended BharatNet Project, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to speed up the survey process to ensure improved digital connectivity in rural and remote areas of the district.
The already constituted committees were asked to complete joint surveys of border villages and submit detailed reports regarding areas, if any, still lacking mobile connectivity so that necessary measures can be taken for providing seamless communication facilities to the residents.
The meeting concluded with assurance from all stakeholders for coordinated efforts towards strengthening telecom connectivity across the district.
