RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan today handed over financial assistance for dairy and poultry-based entrepreneurship projects proposed under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).

Among the beneficiaries, Yameen Self Help Group of Batote was provided assistance of ₹25 lakh for establishing a Milk Value Addition Startup Unit for processing products like Ghee, Khowa, Dahi, Paneer and milk pouches. The unit has been sanctioned under HADP with 100 percent subsidy support.

The Deputy Commissioner also handed over a subsidy cheque of ₹18 lakh to Mohammad Hussain for the establishment of a Commercial Layer Farm with a capacity of 10,000 hens. The total project cost is ₹60 lakh, with a subsidy component of ₹18 lakh.

The initiative aims to strengthen the dairy and poultry sectors in the district by promoting value addition and enhancing income opportunities for local farmers and entrepreneurs. Notably, this is the third such milk processing unit established in District Ramban under the scheme.

The Milk Value Addition Units are being sponsored by the Animal Husbandry Department with a 100 percent subsidy component under HADP. The financial assistance includes support for procurement of machinery, working capital and transportation facilities to ensure smooth functioning and marketing of dairy products.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the Animal Husbandry Department for promoting dairy and poultry-based entrepreneurship in the district.

The Milk Value Addition Units are processing locally produced milk into products such as curd, Paneer, Ghee, Khowa and Milk Pouches, which will help increase the profitability of dairy farming in the area. The commercial layer farm is also boosting egg production and creates employment opportunities in the area.
