REASI: Under the visionary leadership of Khalil Choudhary, Worthy Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Reasi (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge) and the able guidance of Pooja Gupta, Secretary, an awareness programme on Victim Compensation was organized today by the Para Legal Volunteers PLVs of TLSC Mahore at Dewal and other places.
The participants were sensitized to the Victim Compensation Scheme, its objectives, eligibility criteria and the procedure for availing compensation. Emphasis was laid on the rights of victims of crime and the role of Legal Services Authorities in providing financial relief and legal assistance.
The PLVs interacted with the local residents and addressed their queries, encouraging them to come forward and seek legal aid without hesitation. Informative material was also shared to enhance awareness among the general public.
The programme witnessed active participation from the local community, who appreciated the efforts of the Legal Services Authorities in spreading awareness at the grassroots level.
Another awareness programme was organized today at LAC Shajroo by PLVs of TLSC Mahore. The Para Legal Volunteers sensitized the participants about the Victim Compensation Scheme, highlighting the rights of victims to receive compensation and support under the law.
During the session, emphasis was laid on the Right to Life and Dignity, enshrined under the Constitution of India and the importance of Articles 38 and 39-A, which ensure social justice and free legal aid to all, particularly to the weaker sections of society. The participants were informed that legal aid is a fundamental right and is provided to ensure access to justice for every individual without discrimination.
The PLVs also encouraged the public to approach Legal Services Institutions for free legal assistance and guidance in case of any legal issues.
