KATRA: Continuing its crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, Jammu and Kashmir Police achieved another success in Reasi district by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering heroin, commonly known as Chitta, from his possession in Katra.
According to police officials, on May 27, a police party from Police Station Katra was conducting naka checking at Ambika Chowk, Katra, when a suspicious individual identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Gagu and resident of Matyal, Tehsil Katra, was intercepted while moving from Asia Chowk towards Fountain Chowk.
During checking and personal search, police recovered approximately 2.5 grams of heroin from his possession.
Following the recovery, FIR No. 165/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation has been initiated.
Reasi Police reiterated its commitment towards eliminating the drug menace from society and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug peddling or substance abuse in their respective areas.
