KATRA: Continuing its sustained campaign against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Reasi Police achieved another success by apprehending an alleged drug peddler and recovering contraband substance from his possession.
According to police officials, during naka checking at Balni Naka on May 31, 2026, a police team from Police Station Katra intercepted an electric auto bearing registration number JK20C-8618 that was travelling from Katra towards Reasi.
The vehicle was being driven by Anil Sharma, son of Shubash Chander, a resident of Saroon Aghar Jitto in Tehsil Katra of Reasi district.
During the search operation, the police recovered approximately 6.3 grams of heroin, commonly known as chitta, from the possession of the accused. Following the recovery, the accused was taken into custody and the contraband was seized in accordance with legal procedures.
Police said that a case under FIR No. 166/2026 has been registered at Police Station Katra under Sections 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered contraband and to identify any possible links in the drug supply network.
Reasi Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating the menace of drugs from society and urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug trafficking and substance abuse.
The police stated that the ongoing efforts under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan will continue with full determination to curb narcotics trafficking and promote a drug-free society.
