JAMMU: Jammu-born Shireen Kalra has been selected as a Global Shaper for the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers Community, joining an international network of young leaders committed to addressing social, economic, and sustainability challenges through community-driven action.

The Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, brings together exceptional young people under the age of 30 to develop youth-led, locally grounded solutions to global challenges.

Shireen Kalra is an alumna of St. Mary's Presentation Convent School Jammu (Batch of 2020) and completed her bachelor's degree from Ashoka University.

Kalra works at the intersection of youth development and higher education. She currently serves as Partnerships Manager at Youth Futures Foundation, the UK Government's national What Works Centre for Youth Employment, where she focuses on improving access to employment opportunities for young people from marginalized backgrounds.

Previously, she has worked with the United Nations Academic Impact Millennium Fellowship and the University of Oxford Global Leadership Programme, supporting initiatives related to youth leadership, civic participation, and pathways to economic opportunity. She holds a Master's degree in Higher Education Policy from University of Oxford, specializing in graduate transitions into meaningful employment.

Kalra has also represented youth perspectives on international platforms, including the United Nations General Assembly, the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, and UN Youth 2030 in New York.

As part of the Oxford Hub, she will contribute to projects focused on sustainable development and AI readiness for young people, with a strong emphasis on youth participation and future-ready skills. Her work will examine how young people can navigate emerging technologies, understand the evolving nature of entry-level employment, and develop the skills needed to actively shape technological change rather than merely respond to it.
