REASI: Under the visionary leadership of Khalil Choudhary, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi (Pr. District and Sessions Judge) and the able guidance of Secretary Pooja Gupta, a series of legal awareness programmes were organized today in different parts of the district.
Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of DLSA and TLSC Mahore generated awareness about the Right to Apply for Compensation before MACT in Hit and Run Cases.
The participants were sensitized to the legal provisions related to Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT), especially focusing on the rights of victims and their families in hit and run cases. The programme witnessed active participation from litigants and general public.
An awareness programme on Role and Functions of DLSA was held at LAC Pouni. ALADC Ranjeet Singh and ALADC Niharika Bamotra conducted the programme.
The panel lawyers sensitized the participants to the role and functioning of the District Legal Services Authority, informing them about the provision of free legal aid for eligible sections of society, including women, children and economically weaker sections. They also highlighted the schemes and initiatives launched under NALSA to ensure access to justice for all. In addition, a Jail visit was conducted by the Assistant Legal Defence Counsels (LADCs) to assess the condition of inmates and to provide legal assistance to under trial prisoners.
The LADCs interacted with the inmates, listened to their grievances and informed them about their legal rights, including the availability of free legal aid and speedy trial mechanisms.
The visit aimed to ensure that no inmate is deprived of legal representation and that their cases are addressed in a timely and just manner.
An awareness Program on "Digital Frauds and Online Scams" was organised at the Court Complex Katra. The program aimed at sensitizing public to the rising incidents of cyber frauds and equipping them with essential knowledge to safeguard themselves against various online scams
Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel Advocate Bhumika Rajput was the Resource Person for the program. She elaborated in detail on different types of digital frauds, precautionary measures and the legal remedies available to victims.
