JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the new school building of Swami Pranavanand Vidyamandir in Panjgrain, Nagrota.

The school is run by Bharat Sevashram Sangha, a renowned socio-cultural and philanthropic organisation that began providing education from pre-primary to Class 8 in 2014 under the 'Har Ghar Shiksha' initiative.

Over half of the students at the institution come from economically weaker sections, and the initiative has significantly contributed to improving access to education in the region.

Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that the development of a higher secondary building and skill infrastructure will ensure access to quality education for disadvantaged students. He said that once all floors of the building are completed, the institution will cater to more than 1,500 students and help transform thousands of lives.

"With future residential facilities for 100 boys, the local economy will receive a boost, backward areas will be transformed, and society will advance with renewed confidence," Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said.

In his address, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha urged students and teachers to actively contribute to nation-building and adapt classrooms to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global landscape. He emphasized the importance of positioning India as a leading knowledge economy.

"We must strengthen cultural awareness among students, as unity in diversity defines global society. Communication skills must be promoted to ensure clear expression, enabling the younger generation to improve lives, uphold democratic values, and foster collaboration for a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also highlighted the importance of recognizing talent across diverse fields, including art, craft, music, and entrepreneurship, stating that all students deserve equal respect and opportunity.

He noted that an education system focused solely on academic scores while neglecting art, sports, and skills is not suited for the future. "Students must be prepared with creativity, critical thinking, moral decision-making, collaboration, and lifelong learning-qualities that machines cannot replace," he said.

Highlighting the rapidly changing global environment, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that unlike in the past, modern careers require continuous learning, skilling, and upskilling. He pointed out that artificial intelligence and automation are transforming industries, offices, hospitals, and schools, and emphasized the need for human resources to stay ahead of these changes.

The Lieutenant Governor also underscored the importance of the National Education Policy, describing it as a powerful tool to address national needs, bridge rural-urban and regional disparities, and accelerate economic growth.

"India will emerge as a strong knowledge economy, nurturing generations with scientific temper, moral strength, cultural values, skills, and a spirit of service and sacrifice," Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said.

He further stated that true education must balance external knowledge with internal self-awareness and emotional resilience, adding that this holistic approach should be central to every educational institution.

The initiative by Bharat Sevashram Sangha is supported by Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, and other donors.

Among those present at the inaugural ceremony were Srimat Swami Biswatmanandaji Maharaj, General Secretary, Bharat Sevashram Sangha; Srimat Swami Ambarishanandaji Maharaj, Joint Secretary; senior sanyasins of Bharat Sevashram Sangha; Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament; Devyani Rana, Member of Legislative Assembly from Nagrota; Dr Nirmal Singh, former Deputy Chief Minister; Rashmi Govil, Director HR, Indian Oil Corporation Limited; Vilas Zode, Executive Director-HR, Hindustan Petroleum; Chander Mohan Gupta, former Mayor JMC; and other prominent citizens.
