Plantation drives held across Doda schools

DODA: In a major push towards environmental conservation, a plantation drive was successfully conducted across all schools of district Doda as part of a Union Territory-level initiative to promote ecological awareness among students.

The drive was organised under the directions of Director School Education Jammu Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary and under the supervision of Chief Education Officer Bhushan Kumar Pathak.

The schools, across the district, participated enthusiastically by planting saplings on the campus and surrounding areas.

At the district level, the main programme was held at Government Higher Secondary School (Boys) Doda, where Joint Director School Education (Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban) Mohammad Ashfaq planted saplings in the presence of staff and students, encouraging them to actively contribute towards environmental protection.

Awareness programmes were also organised in schools to sensitise students about the importance of tree plantation, conservation of natural resources and their role in safeguarding the environment.

Meanwhile, a plantation drive was conducted at Government Boys Higher Secondary School and Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bhadarwah, with active participation of ADC Sunil Kumar Bhutyal. The drive was coordinated by the staff of Forest Range Neeru and Forest Protection Force personnel led by local DFO Range Officer Neeru. Staff members of the Forest Department along with teaching staff of the twin institutions also participated in the drive.

Earlier, the programme began with a brief introductory session emphasizing the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance, improving air quality, conserving biodiversity and addressing the growing challenges of climate change.
