SHOPIAN: Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW), Mission Shakti Shopian today organized a grand programme to celebrate International Women's Day at Town Hall Shopian under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer, Ibrar Mirza.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from women, students, and various stakeholders working for women empowerment.
Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The event began with a seminar highlighting the importance of women's empowerment, gender equality, and self-reliance among women. Several speakers including students, women achievers, and social activists shared their views on the role of women in building a progressive society.
A special exhibition was organized by women beneficiaries supported by Sankalp Hub, where they displayed their products and entrepreneurial ventures. Many of these women expressed gratitude towards Sankalp Hub for providing them guidance, support, and opportunities that helped them become financially independent and self-reliant.
During the programme, women entrepreneurs, students, and speakers were felicitated for their achievements and contribution towards promoting women empowerment in the district.
A signature campaign was also conducted on the occasion to raise awareness about the rights, dignity, and empowerment of women.
ADDC Shopian, in his address appreciated the efforts of the Department of Social Welfare and Sankalp Hub for actively working towards empowering women at the grassroots level. He emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities and encouraged women to actively participate in social and economic development.
District Social Welfare Officer, in his speech highlighted the various initiatives being implemented under Mission Shakti to support women through awareness, capacity building, and livelihood opportunities.
The programme was attended by officials and representatives from DCPU, One Stop Centre (OSC), Child Helpline (CHL), ICDS, and NRLM, along with students, women entrepreneurs, and members of civil society.
