SRINAGAR: Intensifying its anti-narcotics campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police, in coordination with the Revenue Department, demolished an illegally constructed three-storey residential building valued at approximately ₹2 crore in the Rainawari area of Srinagar.
According to officials, the property was linked to an alleged drug peddler and was demolished following an investigation into assets suspected to have been acquired through unlawful means. Police said the structure had been constructed on encroached government land, leading to the recovery of valuable State property from unauthorized occupation.
Officials stated that the individual concerned is facing multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act registered in different districts of Kashmir. During the verification of assets, investigators allegedly found that the building constituted illegally acquired property and was linked to proceeds generated through narcotics-related activities.
Following the completion of legal formalities and in the presence of Revenue Department officials, the structure was razed as part of the ongoing drive against drug trafficking networks and their financial assets.
Police said the action reflects the administration's commitment to dismantling the economic infrastructure supporting the narcotics trade and preventing the use of illegal proceeds for the acquisition and development of properties.
Authorities reiterated their resolve to continue the crackdown on drug-related crimes and urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the fight against the drug menace across Jammu and Kashmir.
