3 KKRTC Staff Suspended After Bus Driven With Mobile Torchlight In Kalaburagi

The Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) has suspended three employees, including the driver, after a state bus was operated using a mobile phone's torchlight due to faulty headlights during a night trip.

According to the Information and Public Relations Department, Kalaburagi, the incident occurred on July 4 involving bus KA 28 F-1985 from the Chincholi depot. The vehicle was plying on schedule number 83 on the Chincholi-Kalaburagi route.

During its final night run from Kalaburagi to Chincholi, the bus's headlights reportedly became extremely dim. Instead of stopping for repairs, the driver allegedly continued the journey by using the light of a mobile torch to navigate the road. The lapse was widely reported in local newspapers.

Taking serious note of the safety violation, KKRTC authorities suspended the driver and two other staff members. Officials said strict action will be taken to ensure passenger safety and prevent such incidents in the future.
