A heart-shattering incident took place in which eight members of a family lost their lives after a fire broke out in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar hotel.

The incident claimed a total of 21 lives.

The Gurugram family had come to delhi to visit an ailing relative and logged into a hotel which was near to the hospital. The location is said to be Malviya Nagar near the Max Hospital.

The victims of the fire accident are identified as 9 Indians and 12 foreigners. The family members who lost their lives in this fatal accident are identified as Vivek Aggarwal, Tarjni Aggarwal, Jivisha, Varya, Jhaveri, Ashok Aggarwal, Kamla and Prem Lata Aggarwal.

The family was a resident of Gurugram and had come to visit an elderly person who was being treated for lung ailment.

The incident took place in a five-floor hotel building at around 8.30 AM in the morning. The fire engulfed in all five floors. Hotel didn't have any emergency exit stairs, windows were permanently sealed and the doors were sensor operated.

The man who is undergoing treatment has almost lost his entire family, including his wife, son, daughter-in-law, granddaughters and more relatives who had come to see him.

As per ANI reports, the owner of the hotel has been arrested and investigation is ongoing to determine if the hotel was functioning beyond its authorised capacity and whether the basement had sufficient access and exit arrangements for the safety of the beings.
