KANNUR: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan remained in his home constituency, Dharmadom, in the final phase of the election campaign. He spent five days there from April 3 as part of his campaign and participated in events, including roadshows.

He will continue to stay in the constituency today, which is the silent campaign day.

A special meeting has been scheduled this morning with leaders in charge of the constituency's election committee. Final strategies will be discussed at the meeting. No house-to-house campaigning has been planned for today. The Chief Minister had earlier said he would return to Dharmadom after spending ten days campaigning across the state.

Although he is the main campaigner of the LDF, he could not campaign in Wayanad and Kasaragod districts this time. Yesterday, natives of Chooralmala in Wayanad visited Dharmadom to express their support for him.

In the previous election, Pinarayi Vijayan won the constituency with a margin of over 50,000 votes. This time, his main opponent is Youth Congress leader Adv. V P Abdul Rasheed, who had earlier reduced the victory margin of M V Govindan in Thaliparamba. Left leaders are confident that the Chief Minister's margin will not decrease this time.

The Chief Minister's presence in the constituency during the final phase has boosted the confidence of the LDF. Party workers also carried out a campaign by delivering letters from the Chief Minister to every voter's home.

Sunny Joseph in Peravoor

KPCC President Sunny Joseph, who is facing a tough contest, spent most of his time in his constituency, Peravoor. With CPM Central Committee member K K Shailaja contesting against him, Peravoor is witnessing a strong electoral battle. Both candidates are prominent leaders, making Peravoor one of the key constituencies in this election.
