Heavy polling in Pala, Mani C Kappan and Jose Tom cast votes

KOTTAYAM: Voting for the bypoll to the Pala assembly seat, which became vacant following the demise of Kerala Congress leader K M Mani, began at 7 am Monday morning. There is a total of 176 polling booths in the constituency.

LDF candidate Mani C Kappan came with his family to cast his vote. Talking to the media after casting vote, he said voting first hints that he will be number one and will be able to win with a huge majority. Meantime, UDF candidate Jose Tom said that there will be 100% success in Pala.

Among the 1, 79,107 voters in Pala constituency, 91,378 are women voters and 87,279 men. 1557 fresh faces have been included in the voters list. Electronically transmitted ballot papers were given to service voters to cast their votes via online. 212 voting machines have been set in the constituency. Two booths in Pala are considered sensitive. They are booth no 159 and 160 at Mallikasseri St Dominic Savio UP School. The proceedings at these booths will be registered via video recording.
