GUWAHATI: Rajasthan Royals continued their dream run in this IPL season, beating Mumbai Indians in a rain-hit match reduced to 11 overs to register their third straight win.
Chasing a target of 151, Mumbai Indians managed only 123/9 in 11 overs, going down by 27 runs.
Mumbai had a poor start in the chase. Early wickets put them under pressure, with Ryan Rickelton (8 off 4), Rohit Sharma (5 off 6), Suryakumar Yadav (6 off 3), Hardik Pandya (9 off 6), and Tilak Varma (14 off 10) all dismissed quickly. At one point, they were 46 runs down within five overs.
Sherfane Rutherford (25 off 8) gave some hope with a quick knock, but his dismissal slowed the chase. Naman Dhir (25 off 13) also contributed, but Mumbai couldn't recover. In the end, Deepak Chahar (6* off 5) and Jasprit Bumrah (5* off 2) remained not out.
For Rajasthan, Ravi Bishnoi, Sandeep Sharma, and Nandre Burger picked up two wickets each, while Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande took one wicket each.
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals posted a strong total of 150/3 in 11 overs. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal led the innings with an unbeaten 77 off 32 balls, hitting 10 boundaries and 4 sixes. Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a quick 39 off 14 balls, and the pair added 80 runs for the first wicket. Riyan Parag contributed 20 off 10, while Dhruv Jurel scored 2 off 3. Shimron Hetmyer remained unbeaten on 6 off 7.
Mumbai bowlers struggled, with Ghazanfar taking two wickets and Shardul Thakur picking up one.
Rajasthan Royals now move to the top of the points table with three consecutive wins, while Mumbai Indians have one win and two losses from three matches.
