Kerala sets example, first Hindu marriage in Mosque, Jamaath solemnises wedding of Anju and Sharath

KAYAMKULAM: A kathirmandapam was set on the premises of Cheravally Muslim Jamaath Mosque in Kayamkulam. Muslim Jamaath Committee hosted the Hindu wedding of Sharath Sasi, son of Shashidharan and Mini of Krishnapuram to Anju Ashok. The wedding was held between 11.30 and 12.30 pm as per Hindu rituals.

Anju is the daughter of late Ashok and Bindu of Chervally. Bindu was struggling to get her married off and finding no way she approached the Jamaath Committee seeking help. Ashok died a couple of years ago following a heart attack.

Jamaath Committee secretary Nujumudeen Alummoottil, presented the issue before them. The office bearers discussed the issue and decided to get her married. The Jamaath committee along with Bindu distributed the wedding cards.

The marriage was conducted under the aegis of the Jamaath Committee as per Hindu rituals led by a Hindu priest. The committee gave her ten sovereigns and Rs 2 lakh in cash.
