MALAPPURAM: 11-year-old Masneen miraculously survived the car accident in Valparai. Masneen, who escaped with injuries, was taken to the Perinthalmanna District Hospital.
Masneen was not informed of her mother Shakina's death. The taxi driver who came through the route pulled the girl out of the wrecked vehicle. She was immediately taken to the hospital.
Minister K Krishnankutty had visited Masneen at the Pollachi hospital on Friday. Masneen was shifted to the district hospital on the instructions of the Malappuram DMO. The authorities informed that necessary arrangements have been made at the hospital. Meanwhile, three people who were involved in the accident are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of the Coimbatore Government Medical College with serious injuries. Shahadeen (11), the son of Sajitha, the driver of the vehicle, Muhammed Hafiz (22), and the school driver, Noushad (39), are undergoing treatment with serious injuries.
The van carrying a tourist group from the Malappuram Panga Palliparamba Government LP School fell 800 feet on the Valparai 13th hairpin bend at 5.20 pm yesterday. While descending, the vehicle lost control at the 13th hairpin bend of the pass, overturned several times and fell into the ninth bend. The accident site is 30 km from Pollachi. 13 people, including the driver, were travelling in a tourist van rented from Perinthalmanna.
