KOCHI: Malayalam superstar Mohanlal's mother Santhakumari passed away on Tuesday afternoon. Santhakumari passed away at the star's home in Elamakkara, Kochi.

She had been undergoing treatment here for the past few years after suffering from a stroke. Santhakumari's past words about the three best superhit films of Malayalis' own Lalettan are now being discussed on social media.

Even though her son Mohanlal is a superstar in Malayalam cinema, she has not seen three of his films, his mother herself revealed. Kireedam, Chenkol and Thalavattam are the Mohanlal films that Santhakumari has not seen. 'I have not seen Kireedam and Chenkol. Those films are really sad. Fighting and all that. I don't want to see them. I have not seen Chenkol at all. I have seen a little of the first half of Kireedam. I don't want to see the rest. I have not seen Thalavattam either. I will not see them. I like watching films like Kilukkam.'

Mohanlal's mother had also said in an interview that she got up and left before the climax of Chithram. After winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and returning to Kochi, Mohanlal first visited his mother, who was resting at home. Mohanlal had celebrated his mother's birthday with the participation of family members and close friends. Many stars, including megastar Mammootty, visited Mohanlal's house in Elamakkara after hearing the news of his mother's death.
