Sahal Abdul Samad, an Indian professional footballer who plays for both the Indian national team and Mohun Bagan SG in the Indian Super League (ISL), was born on April 1, 1997. Sahal Abdul plays in the midfield.

He was born in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) city of Al Ain to Malayali parents who were originally from Kerala, India, and finished his 14 years of schooling there. Sahal began playing football when he was eight years old. Sahal enrolled at the Al-Ethihad Sports Academy in 2010 to receive training in professional football. After finishing his education in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sahal Abdul migrated to Payyannur in Kannur, Kerala, India, to pursue his degree and play college football.

Kerala Blasters signed Sahal, a young Indian footballer, to his first professional contract after he made his debut in the 2017 Santosh Trophy. Sahal Abdul, who was elected captain for the 2017-18 I-league 2nd division season, finished third in the division with seven goals in ten games. Despite his struggles with the senior squad, manager René Meulensteen elevated Sahal to the senior team.

Sahal was named to the starting 11 for the 2018-19 season and appeared in 17 league games, scoring his maiden goal against Chennaiyin FC. With six goals, Sahal tied Mumbai City's Bipin Singh for the joint-second-highest Indian goal scorer in the league. The highest-scoring Indian for the Blasters this season was Sahal Abdul Samad. Karolis Skinkys, the director of sports for the Kerala Blasters, stated in June 2022 that IBV Westmannaejar, an Icelandic top-tier league, was considering signing Sahal on a temporary loan agreement till the end of August. However, due to visa and work permit complications, the agreement fell through.

On July 14, 2023, the football club Kerala Blasters confirmed the transfer of Sahal to Mohun Bagan SG in exchange for a player for an unknown price. One of the most expensive transfers in Indian football history was made by Mohun Bagan, when they signed Sahal on a five year deal.

On March 11, 2019, Sahal, a young Indian player, made his debut with the under-23 squad in a friendly match against the football team of Qatar U23. Sahal Abdul Samad was a preliminary selection for India's 2019 AFC Asian Cup squad but was not selected in the end. He was picked for the team for the 2019 King's Cup in May 2019, when he made his football debut in a 3-1 loss to Curacao.

Sahal was nominated to India's 23-man team for the SAFF Championship in the Maldives in 2021, where he scored his first international goal against Nepal on October 16, 2021.
