07 May 2026, US: The ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency has officially approved "cyanoflanilide" as the ISO common name for a new meta-diamide insecticide developed by Metisa Biotechnology Co. Ltd. The approval was confirmed on May 4, 2026.

The insecticide, previously identified by its chemical designation and the Chinese common name "溴氰氟苯酰胺," will now be internationally recognized under the approved common name cyanoflanilide.

The chemical name of cyanoflanilide is:

N-[3-2-bromo-4-[1,2,2,2-tetrafluoro-1-(trifluoromethyl)ethyl]-6-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]amino]carbonyl]-2-fluorophenyl]-N-(cyanomethyl)-4-fluorobenzamide
(CAS No. 2915290-26-3)

According to the ISO 1750 Maintenance Agency, no objections were received during the consultation period for the proposed name "cyanoflanilide." As a result, the name has now attained approved status and will be included in an upcoming edition of ISO 1750, which will feature both preferred names and common names for agrochemical active ingredients.

In French, the approved common name has also been adopted as "cyanoflanilide" (nf).
