Schools In Few Cities Of Maharashtra To Reopen From Next Week; SOPs Issued On Friday
Siting the decline in the cases infected by the on-going health crisis, the Thane & Pune Municipal Corporations have decided to re-open schools from next week. The school for classes 5-8 and classes 5-12 will re-open in Pune and Thane from January 27 and February 1 respectively. However, keeping in mind the seriousness of the situation both municipal corporations have issued strict guidelines.
Thane and Pune Municipal corporations have asked the school authorities to strictly follow the SOPs to prevent the students from getting infected.
Speaking of the order issued by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Friday, it has allowed the reopening of schools from classes 5 th to 8 th . The schools will re-open on February 1 and it will be mandatory for all the school authorities to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) provided by the state government.
Apart from the SOPs issued by the state government, PMC has also released a set of guidelines that the school authorities must follow to prevent the spread of the infection.
According to the SOPs issued by the civic body, each school will have to make arrangements for a thermal scanner/gun, oximeter, thermometer, soap, sanitisation, and a few other things. The Zonal Medical Officer and Ward Medical Officer will have to certify that all the teaching faculty have submitted their RT-PCR reports of government lab to the school.
Furthermore, school authorities must also ensure that adequate markings for physical distancing in the staff rooms and classrooms. One student per bench is allowed as per his/her name on the bench.
The school authorities must also put up posters urging students, teachers,s and other staff members to wear masks and benefits of proper sanitisation. Students will have to maintain six feet distance while standing in the queue.
On the other hand, the Thane Municipal Corporation has allowed the re-opening of classes from 5th to 12th from January 27. Schools of all mediums, including ashram schools will re-open after almost 10 months of being shut.
