NEW DELHI — In a major push for urban infrastructure and renewable energy, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved the Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project.
The new 41-km North-South corridor is set to transform connectivity in the Pink City with a total investment of ₹13,037.66 crore.
The Route: Stretching from Prahladpura to Todi Mod, the corridor features 36 stations (34 elevated and 2 underground).
Key Hubs: It will link critical areas including the Sitapura Industrial Area, Tonk Road, SMS Hospital, and Vidhyadhar Nagar. Notably, underground stations near Jaipur Airport will provide seamless access for air travelers.
Interconnectivity: The line will interface with the existing Phase-1 (Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar), creating a comprehensive transit network for a city whose population is projected to reach one crore.
Timeline: The project is slated for completion by September 2031.
Kamala Hydro Electric Project: A 1,720 MW project on the Subansiri river, costing ₹26,070 crore.
Kalai-II Hydro Electric Project: A 1,200 MW project in the Lohit basin, costing ₹14,106 crore.
Impact: Chief Minister Pema Khandu emphasized that these projects will drive job creation and infrastructure in remote districts like Anjaw.
