Shehbaz Sharif's daughter Rabia Imran and her husband cleared of corruption and money laundering charges.

May 5, 2026: A court in Lahore has acquitted Rabia Imran, daughter of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and her husband Ali Imran Yousaf in a major corruption and money laundering case.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment informed the court that no evidence was found against the couple in the Punjab Saaf Pani Company case, leading to their clearance in a single hearing.

The couple had earlier been declared proclaimed offenders after leaving for the UK in 2022 when arrest warrants were issued during the tenure of Imran Khan. They recently returned to Pakistan after securing bail, and the court subsequently dropped all charges based on the investigation report. Shehbaz Sharif himself had also been acquitted earlier in the same case due to lack of evidence.

The development has sparked sharp political reactions, with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf accusing the judiciary of bias and alleging a nexus between institutions and the ruling coalition led by Pakistan Muslim League (N). The party termed the acquittals as a setback to justice, intensifying the ongoing political tensions in Pakistan.
