Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Election Results 2026: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) suffered a major setback in the Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune municipal elections on Friday, as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) surged ahead in several key wards.
According to the latest trends, BJP is leading in 74 wards in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, one of the wealthiest civic bodies after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. NCP led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is ahead in 40 wards, while the faction led by Sharad Pawar is leading in just one ward.
In Pune, BJP is leading in 52 wards, while the NCP has a narrow lead in only two wards. The Congress is ahead in five wards and is allied with the Thackeray brothers' parties - Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena and Raj Thackeray's MNS - which are not leading in any wards so far.
The results indicate a poor performance for the united NCP, despite aggressive campaigning in both cities ahead of the elections.
