New York (USA), October 13. Hollywood actress Selma Blair has been taken into custody by the police at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The actress was apprehended immediately after the Delta Airlines flight from Los Angeles landed in New York. She is accused of assaulting two flight attendants during the flight.
Additionally, Blair is also accused of assaulting a female police officer and a nurse while being taken to the hospital. As per agency report, it was stated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey that she was arrested around 11 PM on Sunday night. One of the injured flight attendants was taken to the hospital for medical examination.
It has been reported that Blair bit the flight attendants during the assault. According to the police, Blair attacked a female police officer while being taken to Jamaica Hospital. A nurse has also alleged that the actress assaulted her.
On Monday evening, two assault charges were filed against Blair in a Queens court. The judge granted her bail set at $20,000 cash or $60,000 bond. The next court hearing is scheduled for January 19.
Delta Airlines and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have not shared details of the incident. The 54-year-old Blair has played lead roles in films such as Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde, and Hellboy. After being granted bail, her lawyers did not speak to the media.
Sources indicate that Blair had a dog with her at the time of the incidents. Her lawyer met her at the hospital and took the dog with them. A representative for Blair stated that the actress faced mental distress during the flight, which led to the alleged incident.
Notably, Blair had revealed in 2018 that she has multiple sclerosis. This is not the first incident involving Blair; in 2016, she caused a disturbance on a flight from Cancun to Los Angeles. It was clear that she was not in control after consuming alcohol and medication, and she had apologized for her behavior.
