OpenAI CEO Altman Introduces Always-On AI Agent

OpenAI CEO Altman Introduces Always-On AI Agent

Loktej English 4 days ago

Sam Altman, the CEO of American artificial intelligence company OpenAI, introduced a highly capable and always-on AI agent at an event on Tuesday.

The day before, the company had halted the release of a more advanced model due to security concerns.

During the company's annual developer conference, Altman announced several new products and insights, including OpenAI's new AI agent 'Dots'. These agents are designed to actively complete ongoing tasks on behalf of users. This agent is a competitor to Meta's personal AI agent 'Muse', which gained rapid popularity after Meta's conference last week.

Altman stated that the Dots agent would be like an AI assistant that is always there for you, inspired by the amazing AI assistants we saw in movies during our childhood. On Monday, OpenAI announced that it was currently stepping back from releasing another model due to concerns raised by its researchers. Following this, there were calls within the artificial intelligence industry to slow down the pace of AI technology development to allow sufficient time for safety measures to evolve.

The company also announced several other new products and updates, including an advanced version of its model GPT-6 Soul, named GPT-6.1 Soul, and a premium speed tier called 'Ultrafast'. OpenAI's announcements came at a time when leaders of major technology companies met with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Altman did not attend this meeting, but OpenAI's president and co-founder Greg Brockman was present at the White House. Others in attendance included Anthropic's Dario Amodei, Amazon's Jeff Bezos, Nvidia's Jensen Huang, Tesla and SpaceX's Elon Musk, and Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella.
